Mallozzi's Mailbag & More II

After many years of observing his interactions with viewers, I think it's more that he wants to play nice in the hopes they'll give his new show a watch. He knows a lot of people are unhappy not only with his actions regarding show decisions, but his comments online. He has a tendency to think that fans who share similar opinion are one coherent entity, so he's often handed out insults to a group versus an individual who commented on his blog. There's a difference there, and I don't think he gets it or wants to, because his comments generate publicity. No such thing as bad publicity and all that.

Same with the strokefest of GW. It's a ready-made publicity source for his new venture, and he already has an established relationship with them, handing out exclusives and the "officially unofficial" seal of approval. Haven't been over there in years, but posting news about projects TPTB and the actors are now involved in probably will be the fuel to keep them going in a Stargate-less world.

I was going to bold certain parts of this post but then realized the whole thing deserved to be bolded because it's all true. Inara, you've distilled the man's character and motivations down to two perfect paragraphs. I couldn't add a thing.

So that's it? Surely you have something to say about JoMo's latest shenanigans? Don't deny us your pithy and withering analysis of the latest tit-for-tat cronyism of Joe and Darren. C'mon, spill!

Actually I haven't been keeping myself up to date on Mallozzi's goings on because quite frankly it lost my interest quite a while ago.
So sorry to disappoint you there mate.
But I can say this...

"OOOOH NOOOOOO!!!! THE BIEBER'S BACK!" :)

Hell yeah The Beeb is back, and this this time he's handing out green lollipops and kicking ass -- and right now he's all out of green lollipops! :D

I hear ya on not being interested in Mallozzi's egotism du jour. I've gone thru phases like that where I simply didn't care to bother with him. This most recent stroking of GW's owner was too ridiculous to let slip by though. His delusional egotism is fascinating at times. It's like looking at a horrific car crash on the side of the highway. You know you shouldn't stare but you can't help yourself.

Funnily enough, that is exactly the feeling I get when I look at your new avatar. :D

I'm pretty sure TPTB for "Torchwood" took fan criticism into account and did their best to rectify the issues plaguing the show. This is the major difference between TPTB of "Torchwood" verses TPTB of SGU. The proof is in the next paragraph where JM dismisses fan opinion as having zero impact on how the show is created. "The show is the show" couldn't be more clear. He's saying, quite clearly, 'This is the product we're giving you and if you don't like it tough titty!'

The folks at "Torchwood" didn't have this attitude and that's probably why the show is still in production. It had several seasons plus a third series and now has a fourth series being produced with big name actors. It's a fact, TPTB for "Torchwood" listened to fan criticism of the show and responded accordingly. TPTB for SGU did not. "Torchwood" is still going strong. SGU is not.

JM has a lot of nerve comparing himself to James Moran. And even if he's speaking in terms of SG-1 season 5 that means he didn't learn his lesson as the failure of SGU proves. If anything this admission only makes him look more ridiculous as he's had years to learn from the Daniel Jackson/fan reaction experience. Duh!

What? There's nothing wrong with the show. What the hell are you talking about? The show's next to godliness. You just don't get it. It's too cerebral for you. You're just a angry atlantis fan. lol
Good catch and excellent point. This goes back to his "looooooooong haul" rant, where Joe basically told the shocked fans early on on SGU that that's what the show was going to be like and eat s@%&. I thought he would have learned from that experience. Obviously he doesn't know the first thing about business: your customers complain - you listen! Even if your company is selling iPads.

That's what's so shocking and unbelievable to me about this man. You'd think that anyone who had suffered such a humiliating defeat professionally would catch on at some point, but this guy steams along oblivious to reality. If he's not oblivious then he's just being petulant and petty, which is incredibly juvenile for someone of his age.

The guy had the majority of a shows fan base reject his work -- the ratings prove this -- yet he still rejected this feedback which very well could have saved his bacon. Unbelievable. He is his own worst enemy.

He sounds just like an idiotic politician, who is out of touch, and out of step with reality and the voters.
