How is that article confirmation that the movies are not happening?

Not surprised

I'll be honest...i haven't expected the movies to happen...period. TPTB "got over" sga quickly and eagerly moved on to the soap (SGPoo), after Mallozzi's snotty comment last year that if sgpoo got cancelled IT would get a movie before sg1 or sga I decided that i don't want this particular group of PTB to do it. :P

I tend to agree with Tanith here.

I don't see that as confirmation that they won't happen, but I'm not buying AT ALL either that they will just because BW has a plan B-ullshit.

The one line that always bugged me on that interview was:

The market has changed, and it's still changing, and it's not what it was.

He also said elsewhere that "the DVD market went away" (sorry, paraphrasing).

Now the thing is WE FANS are "the market". And we haven't gone away. Even through the crisis we've been saying we'd buy anything SG1 and SGA. But no, they decided we weren't there. Well, maybe he's right now because he and JM have managed to piss all fans off and some people won't buy anything from JM & BW anymore.

And what is "The market has changed... and it's not what it was" supposed to mean anyway?? Can you talk in concrete terms? Can't you say how much a DVD would cost and how much you think buyers would be willing to pay? Or how many DVDs MGM would like to sell? I'm still buying DVDs! Last I looked Amazon was doing fine on their DVD and Bluray sales! It's so easy to recognize when someone is bullshitting you because they say things like these that are completely vague and make no sense. BW you never had any intention of making SG movies as long as your precious little toy was moving forward!

Think he might of been talking about the global financial crisis and that the DVD market took a big hit because of it. Would say from MGM's point of view they're worried about whether or not they would make a profit from direct to DVD (Especially in MGM's current situation). Brad and Mallozzi have both said several times that they want to do the movies and that they have a script ready but they simply have not been given the green light.

If Brad was being truthful about a Plan-B it could be multiple things: Work out something with SyFy, Use Pay to Download etc.

I would like to believe thats true. But the devil sitting on my shoulder is pointing out he did not come up with this plan b until his baby was due for its season 2 premiere. he could have mentioned this plan anytime in the last 2 years and only decides too now.

And as many have said my belief that they would show sga the same support as they have sgu is non existent. How can i trust someone to put 150% effort into a movie about something they have all done there best to ridicule?

I would not waste my money on Avatar. They did not rename it Dances With Smurfs for no reason

They've used just about every excuse out there. I'm sick of listening to their crap now. There's always been a market for the movies and for SGA to continue. They never intended to do a movie because they thought their new show was going to bring them fame and glory. They only continue to dangle the carrot to try and get the fans they "didn't need" to come back and watch their pathetic failing show.

Strange how there is a never ending supply of money for SGU. All those guest starts don't come cheap. SGU doesn't come cheap, they keep putting more and more money into the show and I don't hear of how depressed the market is when they talk about SGU. They never had a market for SGU but yet they went ahead. They didnt seem to worry about the DVD market when they announced that SGU would get a movie before SGA/SG1.

They don't even make sense anymore. I find it amazing that they lasted as long as they did with the dreadful business decisions they have been making lately. They refused to listen to any critique of their work over the last few years and if fans told them they didnt like the direction the franchise was going, their answer was to give more of the same. They let their egos get the better of them and in the end seemed more interested in fullfilling their own needs rather than caring what fans wanted. They squandered the potential of the SGA cast for their own petty little reasons and pandered to their favourites. Their unprofessionalism has been astounding and now they are reaping the rewards.

:beckettu: There egos are writing cheques there ability cant cash!

This right here. The only way a SG1/A movie will ever come now now will be for SGU to bomb to the point that SciFi gives up and mercy kills it and it'd have to bomb hard. Then they'll be desperate enough to cater to the fans that they've tried very much to lose.

I never thought the sga movies were going to happen because Mozzy hates Joe Flanigan so much. The other sga actors don't seem to care much for tptb either. tptb are hiding behind the bad economy and mgm's financial failure when they never had the intention of making a sga movie in the first place.

I have read this a lot here and there but have yet to see any shred of evidence (other than "he must" and the "square jaw hero" quote). Do you have any quotes or links?

Much of it was assumption and rumor at first. Joe Flanigan didn't like how Mozzy was running around on set taking photos of everyone for his damn blog. Mozzy then posted a very vague rant about snobby actors. Flanigan wanted to get the actors involved with read throughs and creative decisions but got a lot of blow back from tptb. Flanigan spoke out when the actress playing Weir was fired. Flanigan also made some sassy comments about Mozzy's blog at a convention. This was a while ago and I don't have any links or even direct quotes. I read about most of this on gw, livejournal, and the televisionwithoutpity sga thread.

My confirmation that they didn't like each other was Mozzy's video interview when sga was canceled. He spent lots of time praising every cast member from sga including the newer actress who played Keller. Every cast member except Flanigan that is. Mozzy leaving out the main actor from the show is pretty damning evidence to me. I don't know if I'll ever find that video again but someone on this forum posted it on a thread once.

I figure the only way they'll be able to unload this SGU crap is to give it away free on iTunes.

Wait, didn't they do that with the first three episodes?

Exactly. To be honest, I really wasn't looking forward to the SGA movie anyway after I heard Mallozzi & Mullie were writing it because I think they suck. Then when the props were put up for auction, I completely wrote the movies off. Actual aliens landing on the National Mall would not surprise more than either of these movies getting made.

Petty, petty, petty. These guys really are a peice of work, they try to shove SGU down our throats when we screamed we didn't want it, and now they are basically saying that SGA movies are not happening. Why? Because the big bad internet killed it.

http://blastr.com/2010/10/why-you-havent-seen-those.php

Pathetic.

Seriously, are you even surprised? That talk of SGA movie was just a big fat carrot to make SGA canellation easier to swallow. The sets, including the Atlantis Gate, have been chopped into pieces and autioned off. The actors have moved on & would they want to work with TPTB who fired them? And with Mallozzi writing the script, do you REALLY want a continuation of Enemy at the Gate???

I think its unrealistic to think that Atlantis could be revived using the same actors or new sets to replace the old ones. As you said, the actors have moved on, the sets are gone, and TPTB have shown no interest in reviving it. I dont rule out a NEW Atlantis show, however. Perhaps they could find some of the original actors to play in it. But all of the "save Atlantis" stuff seems sort of pointless to me. Its gone. Many of the sets could be recreated using CGI and green screen. How would they do an Atlantis movie now? I never thought they were going to do it, but they need to wrap up Enemy at the Gate. It needs to be addressed.

it was more than just the props, they sold off things like the stainglass windows used in the atlantis set...they were selling off the atlantis sets...the arses.
