Yeah I figured as much.
I guess MGM wants to hold on to Stargate to make itself seem more appealing for potential buyers.
The potential of direct-to-dvd Stargate movies should serve as a positive for any firm thinking about buying MGM. Stargate is, despite TPTB being burnt out, a maturing franchise that still has life in it, despite the SG-PU anomaly.
It's probably a good thing, perhaps not for our dear Joe F, but for the rest of Stargate fandom. Maybe the firm that buys MGM and/or eventually Stargate will throw more money at the film.
By then hopefully the writting team will be fresh and the movie(s) will be better than if Ol' Mozz and the gang where at the helm.
