Eureka and W13 Numbers PROVE that people WILL watch Syfy on Tuesdays if the shows are good!

I had hoped for better ratings, but both shows are on break, so it's easy to miss that they had new episodes. The reason I knew, aside from it being posted here, was that Wikipedia had new episodes listed for the Christmas season. I don't recall seeing anything on Syfy about it. Still, its good to see them both doing well, regardless, and this has to put a really big hammer in the hands of Syfy and MGM. Now all they need to do is hammer down the nails on the coffin, already.

Any word on how much the advertisied SGU during the airings of eureka and warehouse last tuesday? Only wondering cause the idea might have been to get viewers of those shows watching sgu at that time slot. I for one am pleased though that the shows clearly indicated that people just dont click into watching SGU.

This has sent a LOUD message to TPTB: Its the SHOW that sucks, SGU fans!

If Syfy didn't even advertise, or barely advertised, these shows then it really says something that they both pulled about 2 million viewers and SGU was struggling to keep A million viewers with advertising. Sad. Just sad. And it's another reason why SGU should go.

This is the double blind test we were looking for them to see. The show that was in place on Tuesdays BEFORE Stargate Universe took that slot were doing much much better. Just a week before, I believe. Then Sanctuary was moved to Friday nights where SGU used to live (and all other Stargate shows before SGU), and its doing GREAT! Now, we have Warehouse 13 and Eureka in the same slot on Tuesday and they are doing GREAT. Its like doing a straightforward experiment complete with a control group (the day of the week). NO EXCUSES. :)

Stargate Universe may have had a chance if Mallozzi and Co were able to spin that day of the week excuse, but now its very clear that its the SHOW that people are not interested in. The day of the week it airs is irrelevant. Dog poo on Tuesday is still going to be dog poo on Friday or any other day of the week. Why is it taking them so long to learn? The AI in my computer games seems more intelligent.

You can't get a clearer picture than this.

The final episode of Warehouse 13 in September in the exact same timeslot as SGU just one week earlier, got way over double the viewership ratings while going against all the big networks, some of them on their season premiere: 2.448 million viewers

That closed the coffin on SGU, which premiered with only 1.175 million viewers just one week later.

This week's ratings for W13 just one week after SGU ended, both going against reruns from the networks, just sealed the coffin.

There is no way to send a clearer message to the execs at Syfy: fans will watch good sci-fi or any other Syfy show on Tuesday evenings. It's SGU that stinks!

In face of these facts the decision to cancel the show should take about... oh 3 minutes. It's a slam-dunk. Bye-bye soap opera in space. Bye-bye SGU!

Over at GW, I love the scene - most squeelies are keeping quiet, some squeedrones did try to dismiss the Eureka-W13 numbers as irrelevant but everyone quickly explained to them why those numbers are important - "benchmark". With Brian reiterating (basically) that SGU is just plain crap therefore that's why the series is getting bad ratings.

I think most respondents there are coming round to the fact, that the show may be axed and that SGU is crap, or else it wouldn't be getting the numbers it's getting.

Briangate78 is just posting what anybody with a brain can see (GW rabid squeedrones don't have one).

I'll use my first reply on this board to answer this since it was actually something that struck me when I was watching the shows (first time since WH13 finished the season I've watched Tuesdays on Syfy live). There was not one single ad for SGU the entire time I was watching. There wasn't even a "corner of the screen" ad that Skiffy likes to do.

Why would they bother advertising sgpoop now? there's no new eps airing at the moment and as far as I know the schedule for 2.5 onwards has not been released.

Is this normal for them, to adverise shows that are off air? sorry dont have scifi so dont know about there advertisement!

Because SGU is on a months long break. They're not going to advertise a show that is not being given second runs and has not had its return date (for the rest of season 2) announced.

Thank you for the welcome!

Syfy does on occasion run "returning soon in fall/spring" ads, but I
admit, they may have gotten out of the practice. Their entire business
model confuses the hell out of me sometimes.

Except I saw at least one generic "Stargate: Universe, Tuesdays" ad
(one with no scnes, just the show logo) during Sanctuary this Friday.
I found it jarring that there wasn't even a "SGU will return this
spring" ad before Eureka/WH13. People will assume it's already been
cancelled, which may be a part of Syfy's plan - soften the blow for
when they do actually announce it's been cancelled. Maybe their hoping
that people will forget it's even been on their network

it confuses me aswell! though SYFY'S not all to blame. There needs to be some good pilots for shows out there for them to run with. With some realy good producers/writters/show runners & actors.

Interesting. I watch Sanctuary, and I don't recall any ads for SGU, at all, last Friday.

From the replies I read over at TVBTN, most people didn't know the shows were going to air. Sometimes SyFy will advertise on NBC but I guess there was nothing there, and very little advertising on SyFy itself. Maybe Syfy wanted to pre-empt concerns that these two specials got more attention from the network than an average episode of SGU and so ratings comparisons are unfair.

It actually sounds like they got less attention. That really drives the point home that it isn't the slot, or the advertising, but the show. No excuses.

Killer Christmas Trees?

Why My Good Fellow, What do you mean? Doesn't Rush look like an ill fed, unwashed, grumpy old Grinch? isn't that enough Christmassy like for you?

shep_lol.gif

Perhaps the episode with the angry plants (wait, angry plants? :icon_lol:)..perhaps they were angry CHRISTMAS plants? And Rush could be seen as a steampunk Santa. Sure, I can see that...

Yo Yo It's not fair WH13 and Eureka got Holiday episodes. You can't compare an episode that has Santa Claus. Irrelevant. I wonder how a Syfy monster of the week (Shark man eats The Swamp People) would have went against SGU also. It would be an interesting trial.

You looking for the SGU episode where Santa and three ghosts (of people who died on Density) show Rush the TRUE meaning of Christmas, and he makes prezzies for everyone from random stuff he's found on the ship?
