Discussion : Sanctuary episode #101-102 "Sanctuary for All" *Spoilers*

Terran77

Captain Tightpants
Saw these last night for the first time. Honestly, I think I avoided watching the series for all the wrong reasons. The tone, characterization, pacing, all of it was really quite excellent. And it's not at all the "monsters, rawr!" that I was sorta expecting.

Definitely had a lot of charm and humor, and I really liked all of the characters. That's unusual for me, in any series for any genre.

It gets even better as you move forward. Seminal episodes include:

The Five (really lays the backstory foundation)

Revelations

Fata Morgana

I'm almost wondering if SyFy needs to advertise it differently. From the clips I saw, SyFy led me to believe it had the flavor of monster of the week, or simple horror. Even in the first episodes, there's a lot more depth and themes that are more in line with pure sci-fi. It reminds me a little bit of the Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, for the overall tone, although not as campy and doesn't have the steampunk of course. It's way more sci-fi than SGU ever was, and they had a spaceship.
