I've always loved the episode "It's Good to Be the King" where you see a much reformed Maybourn as the sovereign ruler of the people of that planet and whom he goes so far to protect from the Goa'uld.
It was funny to see Wayne Brady as an asshat jaffa.
So different from the Maybourn we grew to loathe. Go figure.

I never loathed Maybourn. 
Sure he was a jerk at first but there was always something likeable about him.

I never loathed Maybourn.
There was a quality about him that was intriguing even though he was something of a weasel. I liked that he had a recurring role in the series because they did a good job with his character. The "king" episode was quite good.
