For those who watch V, this is good news. For those who don't watch V, I highly recommend it. It is the best currently running sci-fi on tv now. I'm not even comparing it to SGU because SGU is not sci-fi. Anyway, the character of Hobbes, who is a badass British former SAS mercenary, will now be a regular on the show. I loved him in the first season and I thought he was a great foil to Father Jack. Him joining the show full time is just another example of the talent V is amassing for its second season. You all should tune in to it when it premieres in November!

Yay! He is my favorite character! And to be shallow for a minute, he is quite a looker, too! V has a lot of good looking actors, which I think is important for a TV show. People want to see pretty people on TV, it is just a fact of life. So, all shows should have some eye-candy! Don't get me wrong, some of my favorite actors are not eye-candy (like Steve Buscemi, Tony Shalhoub, Chris Cooper to name a few), but they have a charisma that makes them just amazing to watch. SGU really failed in their casting, because they don't have eye-candy regulars, and they also don't have high-charisma regulars who might look unconventional but be great actors. Anyways, back on topic, which is the awesomeness of V, I'm glad we will see more of Hobbes:

I also hope we see more of Paul McGillion - his guest appearance was a highlight of season one, and I hope his character comes back!

I thought he was already a regular! In the original series, Michael Ironside played the part of Ham Tyler, which was the character slot that Hobbes fits into for the new re-imagined series. Bad ass, military trained and ruthless, but with a heart. I EXPECTED such a character to be part of the resistance because he was one of my favorite elements in the original. Im glad it was Mesure, since he perfectly fits the role. Seems like all the males in V are Alphas. Even the priest and the short reporter guy! Tyler is a total wimp. Not too sharp in the head either.

True, one of the long established elements of film and TV is looks and charisma (or the convincing expression of charisma). Women should be attractive in some fashion (even if huge, she can have a pretty face. I thought Ricki Lake in Hairspray was attractive because of her character's personality! But today, men have to be handsome and women need to be pretty AND strong. Wardrobe is also important. But both SG-1 and SGA had casts made up of very pretty people.
I also hope we see more of Paul McGillion - his guest appearance was a highlight of season one, and I hope his character comes back!

The cast for V is great. I like them all, and I'm glad that he's going to be a regular. Having his character there on a regular basis will be good for the show.

Wasn't he!!! Paul was GREAT!!! I hope they bring him back in season 2. That would be AWESOME!!! :beckettu:

Cheers

Paul is being held, but I think we will see him again! I am so glad he is working in so many things. Seeing him in Sanctuary's season 2 finale as an important character made me smile! :) I hope they dont leave that thread dangling. But they seem to be paying close attention to all the dangling threads in the show and resolving them.
