I got taken to see this (which is good because I had no intention of actually paying for it myself - movie theaters are getting too pricey). Not sure how to describe it so here are some thoughts:

1) Anthony Mackie was okay, Has some charisma and gave a decent performance. Harrison Ford gave a surprisingly good performance (like he actually cared). Everyone else was just...there.

2) #1 being what it is, Mackie is not Captain America no matter how they try to spin it. He is Falcon and while he did a good performance it felt like Falcon cosplaying as Captain America.

3) The plot was dumb and the SFX below average. Disney needs to crack down on the SFX house and find out why the quality of their CGI has degraded over the past few years while at the same time being exponentially more expensive.

4) The numerous reshoots ruined the whole flow of the movie - the film feels like it was edited with a woodchipper.

5) Red Hulk was in it so little the film could be accused of false advertising in its marketing.

I'd put it like this; it's better than The Marvels and better than The Eternals. It's also a bit better than Ant Man Quantumania. Beyond that not so much. And with the reboots pushing the true budget for production over 300 million this is going to make Disney take a financial bath. Alas...

Thank you for this! I was going to see this in the theater, but now I will probably just watch it at home. I took a peek at the numbers and this thing did not flop out of the gate. It has $192 million for 4 days. Reviews from my curated personal list are giving it similar reviews as you just did, noting the choppy feel of the movie. Anthony Mackie will never be able to pull off Captain America. No matter how many movies or comics they make to try and make that happen, it never will.

Eh. 192 million half of it overseas. Remember theaters keep half roughly so they are only about 96 million to the studio against its 300 million + investment. Film budgets are just out of control and so is the tendency for lots of reshoots.

I don't think it can see a profit unless it hits near a billion because of the re shoots and intense marketing. This thing already has product tie-ins locked in. I could not find the final production budget, but it will have to come out soon enough!

Reading people's opinions, I can easily wait until this is on streaming, and I might just forget about the movie altogether until I happen to run into it at some point in the future.

When I read the title of this thread, my mind interprets it as if it's a Canadian saying it like in South Park. :D
