There a big patch tomrrow starting at 12:00am to 12:00pm. Anybody who plays wow have any thoughts of the new changes such as the new talent tree, mastery and elbem conversation? Oh btw anybody knows how much frost gear will cost in JP?

For more details go here http://www.wowhead.com/blog&tag=expansion

So guys new changes upgrade or nerf for your char?

If you don't play wow how annoying is it when you hear people talk about it in real life and in this forum?

LOL. I havent seen a single WoW thread on these forums or the Nabble forums. The gaming thread here shows that most people here who play games seem to like Real Time Strategy games like Age of Empires, Starcraft, and some fast paced first person shooters. I used to play it when it first came out, but its boring to me. Who has the time to sit and build characters and pay to do it? Might as well be Farmville.

What I find funny, is that Mallozzi and Wright seem to think that the "average geek" is some fat kid who lives in a basement and plays WoW all day, whilst munching on chips/crisps and waiting for mommy to cook the next meal.

Perhaps you should add a poll to the thread and ask how many people play WoW here?

Basement? No...I live on the 6th floor of a downtown loft building.

Fat, yes...but nowhere near a kid (unless you count that I'm a kid at heart).

I've been playing WoW since it first began, and my daughter and I have already preordered our copies of the new expansion, Cataclysm, that will be released on Pearl Harbor Day.

Mallozzi thinks most geeks are like Eli on SGU. I also played WoW, but when I upgraded my computers to Windows 7, I didnt re-install it. Perhaps I should fire it up now? Starcraft II turned out to be a hassle compared to the old one, so if I MUST play online, I could play WoW. :) I checked out the announcement of the patch here:

The really huge changes (changes to the world, itself) will happen when Cataclysm arrives on 12/7. Flooding, lava, flying even in the "old world" (original areas).

The expansion will allow Horde to have Goblin characters and Alliance to have Worgen (werewolves, basically). There are other things that come with the expansion, but the new playable races are the big news.

I've got three level 80's (Hunter, DeathKnight and Mage). Currently I'm loving on my frost/arcane Mage. It looks like the patch/expansion will be showing some Hunter love, for a change, so she may be coming out of retirement soon.

You know what would be fun? If we all started a new guild on world of warcraft called SGusucks.com. It would be great all the officer can be members of this forum.

You'd have a hard time getting away with the word "Sucks"

But yes, it would LOL

I know this because I used to work for Blizzard.

Yea because the dumb user term of agreement that NO ONE READS! It would be hard but if we make the guild on a non-RP server we might get away with it. They let a lot of stuff slide on a RP servers. I guess we could make another website called sguisterrbile.com and redirect it here if it doesn't workout. This is a good time to make a new guild since everyone getting easy gear.

Btw What did you do exectly in blizzard? were you a gm? How do you get a job at blizzard?

No, not on any server.

They even have issues with the often-attempted guild name "STDs Are BoP"

People start it and it ends up being forced into a rename.

It's game wide, doesn't matter the server you're on.

I also wish people would understand that the profanity filter isn't there to allow people to swear. Swearing is a no-no in a public channel, or if someone reports that you've said it to them privately.

Blizzard can and does keep chat logs going WAY back, to verify reports. I used them all the time.

There was nothing like some idiot complaining that someone called him an "asshole" and you see that the complainer called him a "fucktard" either before or after that. "Fucktard" is going to get the nastier action than "asshole".

I don't understand why they have a rule aganist cussing if they have a profity fitler. It makes no sense the people who dislike cussing have it censored and people who like to cuss can. All blizz is doing is pissing off paying customers that cuss by baning them. Most people who report sound like they cuss anyway but they report when they get into a heated agrument.

Well I cuss a lot in trade chat on many servers and I see lots of people cussing on trade. You can't really enforce the rule if all your custumers are doing it. Maybe it is a rule server wide but it seems like the GM's are more lose on the rules then other servers. I been to a server were i can say fuck you fuck you fuck you over and over again but I been to a server when I called someone a loser on trade and got banned.

The profanity filter is there so that those people who do not choose to hear profanity do not have to do so. However, it is not there to protect those who do from being actioned according to the rules of World of Warcraft.

It's there in the Terms of Service which you said you had read when you clicked "Yes". Thus, if you break that rule, you can be actioned from anywhere to a written warning to a 3 hour trip to the world, to a 3 DAY trip to the world, and then to a PERMANENT trip to the world.

Now did you call him a "loser" or a "fucking loser"? Or some such. Consider the content of the entire conversation, not just the word "loser". They don't just action you on what was reported. If they see that you said something more serious in the context of that conversation, they'll action you on that.

So while someone may petition because someone called them a "noob", if they go in there and see "You're a noob!" "Not so!" Yeah, you're a fucking noob!"

That's what's going to get you in trouble. NOT the word "noob". That proud old Anglo Saxon word is what's going to end up biting you in the ass.

I just called him a loser without cussing but another server I called someone publicly on trade fuck you fuck you fuck you a bunch of times and never got introuble. it pisses me off that they baned for 3 hours for nothing.

Well I think the wow rules can suck my dick. I honestly think they should change them so you are allowed to cuss so the pansy can stfu and turn on the Profity fitler.

If no one reports you, then you're going to get away with that Fuck Fuck Fuck.

However, just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I don't care to hear profanity in open chat. Yes, I swear like a longshoreman (but am considerably less hairy and sweaty), but there are KIDS who play the game, and they don't need to be seeing the garbage that people say to one another.

Keep it to private conversation with someone you know isn't going to report you. Or if your guild allows profanity, say it there. Just keep it out of the public channels.

I always wanted to say this to a gm since your a GM FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU :) I kid.

Well you know I don't have any sympathy for kids that hear cussing since there are parental control that there parents can use but CHOOSE not to use it. Far as i am concerned if you don't have the filter on then you want your kids to hear bad words. Most kids who play wow are old enough to know what fuck means anyway unless there dad's never gotten mad before..

No, no in-game links.

Can you imagine what the gold sellers would do with something like that?

I am not talking about ingame links. I am talking about if we named our guild sgus.com or .net (what ever is free) If we could make a realife website thats sgus.net that redirects us to sgusucks.com. Right now SGus.com is taken but as far as I know sgus.net is not.
