for starters

damn I am glad on one hand that the creators of these 'click bait' vids are in a type of self imposed, in home escape from reality, by spending so much time making videos on BS!

just think of the destruction and mayhem they would cause if they were loose on the streets and in the workplace?! EEEKS!!!

but are they so desperate for "love" that they must make videos they way they are then lie in the title to gets more views--even if the view is for as second or two? Hey, you click it open it counts as a view, yes?

and how these people can continue to make money off of this crap is amazing. YT should have some kind of quality and not quantity standard for what can make money for the uploader

Youtube and Alphabet has seen many changes to its management which is why I am not trusting google. They are now having a very stalin/dictator style management and don't allow free speech there anymore. If it goes against management's vision or what the current trend is, you'll be targeted and fired. I have seen this sort of management before. It's very like what you'll expect in Goldman's sachs or any large corporation. This corporate culture is creepy and so fucked up that it feels inhumane. The sad thing is, this sort of culture is spreading where employers are trying to gouge more hours to meet with KPIs and once you become old, you'll be forced to defend yourself.

They are making AI which has been known to make mistakes and flagged and taken down certain videos that do not break the TOS or are illegal but get demonetized or removed or someone gets a copyright strike. Meanwhile though, you can find a lot of offensive content on youtube that really should be removed but doesn't and someone else makes money in return. What they had initially before 2014 was perfect. Now,what you are witnessing is power abuse and a slippery slope to the bottom. Pretty sure this should give someone else an opportunity to thrive but youtube currently has a monopoly because they were the ones there first and have gone through the initial heartaches. They also have an infrastructure that's unmatched.

Not all content on youtube is shit. Some of the original content is really, really good but they've made it harder and harder for them to make money so now they've had to ask for patreon money. Youtube is where I discovered all the great music and science videos. To me youtube is the great library of alexandria. It has a wealth of knowledge. Some good, some bad but unfortunately, the sides the turning because youtube seems like it wants more money from the content people make. I am aware that youtube must require an insane amount of power to keep it running, but you are just hurting the content creators by imposing draconian style policies.

What happens when companies go this route is usually revolution. That means that another rival will rise to challenge YouTube.

YouTube has saved me literally THOUSANDS of dollars on instruction, fixit jobs, veterinary care, IT tasks like installing special software, tweaking Linux, giving me Powershell commands I don't know, and even full on classes for doing things. It represents a Human Repository to me for technical and other STEM info. I also watch lots of informative documentaries and editorials put out by media outlets. I am completely uninterested in YouTube Red.

Like I said, it's like the great library of alexandria. Let's hope that it doesn't get lost in like that. Youtube is MASSIVE!

The problem with youtube red is not the concept but it's late to the party. Unless something better thing comes along, youtube red maybe a catastrophic failure for google

Well clickbaits are still there unfortunately and I absolutely hate that Youtube can somwhow automatically turn off my adblock without my consent. Talk about Youtube becoming greedy again. I hate ads.

you have to pay, in the US at least, for YT premium for no ads now

if your device shows on the YT player, usually to the right of where you click 'like', or on screen - there is a action button. click it during the ad and it will ask if you want to see more ads like that, or if its not appropriate or irrelevant to you.. click any of those, then 'return to video' and you can bypass the ad even if there is no 'skip ad' button
