What direction should the new Trek go in?

Now that we know Secret Hideout is not in the plans and once Strange New Worlds wraps so does NuTrek what direction do we think Skydance should go in? Some ideas....

1) NOT A PREQUEL! Stop diving into the past. Set anything at minimum after Voyager returns from the Delta quadrant and probably after Nemesis too. That immediately gets you away from the constant canon retcon issues that plagued NuTrek.

2) Stop the Presentism. A huge issue with NuTrek is the overly on the nose preaching on current day issues. Learn how to integrate commentary into the story instead of soapboxing.

3) Tell Science Fiction stories. Stop with the nonsense lately on screen and hire actual genre wqriters and tell actual Science Fiction

4) This is more my subjective take - avoid getting too serialized. Trek works better to me with more standalone episodes

--- and ---

5) Higher episode count. If 26 is impossible at least get us to say 16. These 8 to 10 episode "seasons" are too short and don't deliver enough and worst of all create gaps between seasons that are too large.

What do you think?

I agree with points 2, 3, and 5. As for prequels, I don't really mind them, but I do agree it would be nice to have something set after Voyager. Perhaps another Voyager-like show even. I don't mind serialization, but I'm also good without it.

I admit I want new stuff, so prequels are out. Otherwise anything "new" has to navigate existing lore. By setting it in Trek's present (after Nemesis) the only lore you need to be careful of is the state of things at that moment and not changing the past unless you do time travel.

I want new stuff too. And I really kind of want to do it without an Enterprise (insert letter here). How about a new ship? Maybe not the flagship, but a powerful Federation starship. No relatives of previous characters to create canon glue, just a new set. And this new project MUST adhere to the Star Trek foundational spirit of exploration. I am tired of character-driven slop centering around feelings and interpersonal entanglements. That's not Star Trek.

Well now that Skydance has purged the WB leadership the next thing to watch for is who comes in, Hopefully it is someone who understands the Trek IP and respects it.
