Is anyone else tired of Superhero films?

I was just thinking about this today. Yes I am hopeful the new Superman film will give us a Superman who is back in character (aspirational, a true hero, stands for truth and justice) but I have to admit no superhero movie are even remotely exciting to me lately. I think part of it is just that almost all of the recent films and shows of this sort have stunk but another part is there are just too many of them of late.

The MCU for example has created a ridiculously convoluted storyline and background so that you need a scorecard to understand the movies and shows properly. They should have hit the reset button with Endgame but didn't. The DCU is constantly restarting itself. Maybe James Gunn fixes that - who knows. The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were both far better than the usual DCU slop. But the malaise is still there.

What do you think? Is it time for the studios to slow the output down and concentrate on creating new, original stories?

I am. They have done it to death, like somebody who tells the same joke everywhere they go so much that everyone knows the punchline. I am tired of the genre more than any specific character. It's saturated!I am so damned tired of all things Batman and Superman, I want both of those guys to take a long vacation. The others are just boring now, perhaps because of how they are written? Maybe because of the last few years which have given us way too many superhero films? Beyond that, the projects which were conceived during the woke 2020-2024 production cycles are only now being released into an audience pool which does not find anything based in woke ideology entertaining.

THIS Superman bleeds and comes off as soft and sensitive, and I am not really a fan of James Gunn's vision. Just my opinionated opinion!

Of course, I am too man and I am also tired of the dystopian, dark and gritty shit they show on netflix with the loud dialogues or loud ambiance and soundtrack. I miss the stuff from 20's - 2000's when they had soul and life.

The Superman clip doesn't have context for the scene so we don't know WHY he is all busted up - if for example it involves a weapon with Kryptonite then it is understandable. And it also shows him actually being a hero in the Superman mold.

I'm leery of that Potter show; they already have miscast Snape.
Yeah, I am feeling that this particular Potter project is pure money-grab, like the other recent shows on other streaming services. They pick an established IP, and then apply it like a brand label to entirely different stories and even new alternate universes where they can swap characters and characteristics. In all fairness, in the Harry Potter game Hogwart's Legacy, having none of the original characters in it and having different magic professors worked VERY well. That's the game though. It won't work as well in a streaming show made for lovers of the Harry Potter films, in my opinion.

would love to see more series/ streaming like AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Like I said earlier about how I have come to consider SW's shows (ACOLYTE is the exception) superior to SW's movies; more depth, more character and plot development that just isn't possible in a 2 hr movie

there was supposed to be a follow on show to AGENTS OF SHIELD called AGENTS OF S.W.O.R.D., But I guess between studio re-direct decisions and COVID getting the way of producing things, it just never came to be

for me S.H.I.E.L.D. was like a superhero story, just without the superheroes; showed the workings of the agency done by all the normal everyday people

I miss how movies and TV shows were shot like this I don't care about the content I know but it has the actor from Stargate and Stargate, X-Files, Outer Limits, Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager were shot like this. Now, it's too polished and digitised.
