While out driving today, I was listening to NPR's 'talk of the nation'. They had a segment on ethnicity and identity-that is how one id's themself based on-anything.
There was discussion on ethnic self id, career, 'geek', religious all as primary id's that people choose to use.

and-it really has little to nothing to do about race, just an interesting bit on american sociology and culture; how our societal mores expect and sometimes force us to id ourselves as something.
