Why did they fire the writers? I thought the show was doing well, in my opinion.
I have no clue. The opinions others seem to have is that they're going to be looking for independent scripts.

I don't think that's a good idea, however. "Real" writers' rooms (a largish communal area) are decorated with things like the show bible, storyboards, continuity folks (if you're way lucky) and more. Those wonderful decorations help keep things within canon. We all know how important that can be to a storyline.

It just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen if this is indeed what is in store for The Walking Dead.

Damnit!

It was just announced today (Wednesday) that the showrunners of The Walking Dead have fired all the season 2 writers.

There is talk that they may be looking for independent scripts.

I'm not sure how well something like that would work out for them.

Meh.

They'd better not start screwing things up.....

Anyway, what grabbed me from the first ads I saw was the idea of someone doing a zombie apocalypse based TV series, did'nt know it was based on a graphic novel series until later.

The season finale was "ok."

The only real complaint I had was with use of "jitter cam". Just what I needed after an upset stomach...:puke:

I Really hope that it doesn't become a major issue in the next season.

After seeing TS-19 I can understand why the writers got fired.

Just like the last 2 episodes this one was overly EMO and the characters even started behaving contrary to how they were written before. Plus the whole thing about CDC running out of gas and then blowing up was ridiculous.

I believe they said the last 2 episodes is when the series starts to move away from the graphic novel, while I can understand that on one side after seeing TS-19 now I'm not sure that is a good move.

(I read Max Brook's World War Z (it was good but a very quick read) but in that one the Military simply didn't get overrun (though some areas did) but they also defended key locations like nuclear power stations and more than likely hydro electric dams.)

But yeah the characters were acting irrationally suddenly losing their composure despite living through both the end of society and months after it (makes you wonder why the characters didn't shoot them selves already after that). Oh well it started off very well, TS19 started off very well actually seeing that flashback were all the soldiers are 'cleaning' the hospital out, but once again having conflicting thoughts and feelings since I read WWZ (in that the military did not behave in such a manner). Anyways the CDC place blowing up, while I can understand that a building containing such lethal biological agents/diseases or viruses would have a containment method blowing up the whole damned building was a little on the extreme side of things.

Canon would be the graphic novel, which they have already deviated from so the issue of new/independent writers isn't that big of a deal now. Obviously they can go wherever they want with the story since they've already dispensed with the original blueprint. Good or bad (I suspect bad) this is how it is now. I think the show will only run a couple seasons as it is so I'll just enjoy it (and criticize it) while I can.

I just read the first couple of issues...

of the comic book/graphic novel/whatever.

Yeah, they did add quite a bit to the TV version, but I like most of what they added so far.

And this season only covered the first 3-4 issues? Wow...

Oh, and here an animated clip from the comic (not sure if it's locked outside the U.S. or not, but...):

I'll tune back in when it starts up again, but after the last 2 episodes I am not holding my breath. Maybe it's SGU that has me sensitized to EMO slop, but those 2 episodes ticked me off with the EMO crap and also characters suddenly behaving out of character, as if they had sudden personality transplants.

Maybe he figured cutting through flesh was easier than cutting through the cuff. Hope we get to see zombies getting his body though!

Loving the animation clip btw. :)
