The Lost Room

The Lost Room is another show that I think should have become a series . But it was only a mini series and I thought just could have kept on going . There still where a lot of unanswered question's at the end of the series . Peter Krause does an excellent job as usual playing a Cop who has lost his daughter to the mysterious room 10 .
Anyviews on the mini series ?

I absolutely loved this show!

In all the cancellation hoopla, I missed this thread. This had one of the most imaginative premises ever. I have no idea why they didn't follow it up with another mini-series, which, I think, is the perfect format for this type of show. Can't see anyone coming up with fresh ideas for this week after week.

I believe it was well-received by the critics and the ratings were good. Another sci-fi head scratcher. If only there was a network that produced and televised shows like this...

Thanks for reminding me of this. I think it deserves a rewatch this weekend!

I watched the first episode, liked it, and new right then and there that it wasn't long for this world.
It was a great show and had a very dedicated fan base.

Sadly, it didn't garner enough of an audience for FX to keep it. Some critics (rather than fans, go figure) have suggested it was because the name of the show was confusing, and people may have thought it was about dogs.

You can't account for stupid.

I think there's a wariness on the part of viewers to get attached to sci-fi shows that they know will never be satisfactory. I know I hate watching a show where things are never fully explained. Why invest the time in something that will get canceled before any of the big questions are answered? Unexplained weirdness gets tiring after awhile. I, like many people, need a resolution and/or explanation -- and it better not be shit when it does come if it makes it to that point.

I can take weirdness, don't get me wrong, but at least weird shows like "Sanctuary" deliver explanations and have story resolutions. Call it "episodic" television but at least it rewards me for watching.

If you have to ask then we couldn't possibly help you.

Okay, so I'm a lost cause. But you could still be helpful to the others out there who wonder about the same thing yet did not ask the question.

I watched Lost for as long as I could manage (a little over a season), but the weirdness factor became too much. I know the show has some very dedicated fans, but I just couldn't get into it.

Heroes also became too much to me to watch after about the same amount of time. I'm glad I missed mutant Suresh. SO very glad.

I, too, like Sanctuary's explanations for things. It may take a few episodes, but certainly doesn't take the length of the series.

This is why I would have loved a few more mini-series of The Lost Room. There was a starting point and ending point to the weirdness and a satisfactory payoff. I would like to see another set of adventures in the "room" if there is a set storyline that ends and wraps everything up. One mini-series every year or two.

This the reason why Lost sucked so much ass. The creators SWORE they had a reason for everything crazy that happened on the island throughout the entire run. Even though it kept getting weirder and weirder. Exactly how is all of this going to tie in together?

And what happens in the finale? They were forced to show their hands and reveal themselves as the bullshit artists they were - no rhyme or reason for anything so let's just use the good ole standby of religion (mind you, they previously stated that the meaning behind Lost would NOT be anything religious).

A perfect example of how scifi should stick to an episodic format, lest those in charge get out of control and have no explanation for polar bears running through the jungle other than it being in purgatory. Sheeessshhh!

You're the only one.

Not the Lost Room - The now cancelled FX show Terriers was mentioned earlier in the thread - that people could have mistakenly thought the show was about dogs and not humans.

Sigh...

Can anyone besides our beloved baldfacedmonkeyfriend please answer the question I posed a while back?
What does a lost room have to do with dogs???

I think you're confusing a couple of posts here. One mentioned a show called "Terriers" which was NOT about dogs, but had the misleading title. That show got canceled. Someone mentioned that perhaps people had gotten confused about the title and didn't watch the show because they thought it was about dogs. If only it were about dogs I might have watched it, go figure. Terriers can be cute. My friend has an Australian terrier, she's a blast! Yeah, if the show was about terriers I probably would have watched it but it looked like it was about pasty, overweight white men and that isn't such a blast to watch. I can look out my window and see that shit. Still, I'm not sure what the show was about; probably a cop show and God knows we have enough of those. They come and go like fleas on a terrier. ;)

So anyway, "The Lost Room" has nothing to do with dogs...I think.

EXACTLY!

Just like with Stargate Universe, some people thought it had something to do with the Stargate franchise!
