The Best Movies Never Made

It happens a lot that you hear an actor, producer, or a writer start talking about a movie that they want to make but then it never happens. It just gets stuck somewhere along the way. Or it could be a book that you would really like to see turned into a movie, or the sequel of that great film you watched. All of those are great movies that never grazed out screens. Anyway, the point of this thread is discussing those films.

One of those movies (IMO) is Mathilda (or whatever its name would be), the would be sequel of Léon (The Professional). I loved that movie and I think that there is so much potential for a movie about Mathlida. Plus, it would be great to see Natalie Portman return to the role that launched her career.

I am waiting for National Treasure Page 47...the third movie, but I fear they have run out of ideas. :(

I think it might be an alien type one, but after the last Indiana movie, they may be a bit "gunshy" on the idea, but more NT would be great! Rac80, have you seen Sahara? if you like NT, you would probably like it as well.

Sahara? the 1943 version or the one from 2005 that rotten tomatoes really thought was HORRIBLE?

the 2005 one based on the Clive Cussler book. Hmm, just checked out the wiki on it (RT link to the movie wasn't working) bit of background drama on that one to be sure. Meh, I thought it was a bit of fun, but I like the books so, i'm biased I guess :)

I'm greatly disappointed that At the Mountains of Madness will not be made.

Wha??
Someone actually wanted to do MoM?
They probably would have been as cheesy as the rest of the HP lovecraft inspired ones, so that might not be a bad thing :D :(

MGM had optioned (years ago) the Sword of Shannara by terry brooks....I love his books, but the option expired and no one else has picked it up!:(

Was going to be Guillermo del Toro while James Cameron oversaw some things, it could have been great. I mean Cameron's problem in Avatar wasn't the visual aspect of it, just the content. And Mountains of Madness already is a good template for potentially good content.

True, but have you seen reanimator, reanimater 2 and the Dunwitch horror? (and the few other Lovecraft inspired movies) OMFG doesn't quite cut it :D
