We're exceptionally excited about Aleksander Nordaas' Thale and not just because the poster art is gorgeous (below). The story is centered around the ancient creature the huldra, a nymph-like wood creature who appears to be a gorgeous woman but has the tail of a cow. Also, her back appears to be hollowed out like a tree. This is the kind of crazy new monster we're ready for — finally not another vampire! Watch the first ever teaser trailer:

This does look fun. There's also a link of that page that gives you the background on the creature - Very cool.

It feels like teen emo is taking over movies and tv so I can't wait to see where they're going to go with this. Unfortunately, it'll probably land here in the US in 2013.

U could always try to get your hands on the norwegian version.
It might give the show an extra level of suspense.
Not knowing exactly what people are talking about, keeping you guessing as to what's going to happen.
I find the teaser trailer a little to short to really wake my interest.
I think I need a little more.
But it could prove to be a good show.

That's what I've had to resort to doing in the age of emo vampires. "Acquiring" things and then looking for the subtitles so I don't have to make up my own dialogue.

I kinda have a thing against subtitles.
They always detract from the viewing experience.
And if they're translated subs it's even worse cause they tend to loose a lot of quality in the transition.

I have a short attention span, so unless it's a really interesting movie or porn, subtitles keep my eyes on the screen. Now movies with a small aspect ratio that feature the black bars on the screen - that's it for me. That detracts from my viewing experience. It takes me three minutes, tops, before my eyes are wandering to the black bar, then to the crack on the ceiling, then to the spot where the paint is faded, then to the picture on the wall that may or not be crooked, then to the...

I need to feel as if I'm "lost" in the movie for it to hold me. Or, if I'm forced to read and watch at the same time, it helps keep me focused through the entire thing and forget everything else (unless the movie is just absolute crap).

It looks pretty good, although I can't help thinking of Splice when I look at synopsis of it.

What U need is one of them ultra modern tv's that change size according to the aspect ratio to be displayed.
You know, the ones that don't exist yet.
But I'm sure Samsung is working on some sort of prototype. ;)

Have never heard that before though that those black bars can be so distracting.
Totally don't experience it that way myself.
When I watch a video I'm fixated on what happens on screen.
Letters do tend to draw my attention wherever I see them, which I find to be rather annoying.

Actually, they DO exist (kinda). I have three tv's that change the aspect ratio of what you're watching - 2 Phillips and a Samsung! There are also several DVD players that do this as well. And I have several of those too.

Really short attention span here. If it's just mediocore, there can be no distractions or else I'm up cleaning something...

What I meant was that the tv itself would actually expand or decrease in size instead of just changing the aspect ratio. ;)

You've been staring at those damn unicorns too long...

Close to your suggestion, I was in a home once, where there were movie curtains installed around the set. So when the movie's aspect ratio changed, the curtains lowered/raised themselves appropriately. I don't think I'd mind black bars that much anymore.

And I also think I will stop hijacking Thale's thread.

You're right. We've totally been hijacking this.
Now you've made me feel like a bad boy. :mallozzicry:
But that thing with the curtains is pretty cool.
Don't know if it would make a difference though.

And now you've made me an even badder girl...

The curtains conform to the aspect ratio of the movie on the screen, so it resizes itself at the top and bottom of the tv to cover the unused portion of the screen (or black bars).

Yes I understand. But wether you have a black curtain or a black bar on a tv screen makes no difference to me.
