Renewal and Cancellation news

Lost Girl is currently showing its 3rd season. We're waiting to hear about a season 4.

Meanwhile, Anna Silk ("Bo") is pregnant, so that may affect some filming. Dunno how well corsets work around rising buns in the oven. ;)

Wouldn't surprise me if they wrote her pregnancy into the script for an episode or two. You just know that "Bo" is going to have a baby at some point. There's far too much sex going on for that not to happen. ;)

The fortunate thing about "Lost Girl" is that it's a Canadian production (much like "Continuum" and "Saving Hope"), so they've got funding beyond the SyFy Channel (whatever the hell "syfy" might be).

I'm keeping an eye out for Canadian renewals of those shows.

ROTFLMAOPIMP!!!

And on the subject of "Game of Thrones", there is a guy who works at my favorite Costco who looks almost exactly like "Littlefinger" from that show. Up to and including the hair color/cut, smile, goatee and twinkle in the eye.

And the bastard'd never seen the show. When I brought it up at the register, the cashier (who isn't the guy I'm referring to here) about fell over laughing (which is really funny when it's a big Samoan-looking guy doing the laughing).

They should make that part of the storyline: Trick gets a great-grandchild.

To make you happy maybe you should google Space and Primeval: Vancouver / New World. So much for that extra funding beyond SyFy. I think SPACE: The Imagination Station wants to go with a werewolf show instead.

With the cancellation of Primeval: New World, SPACE: The UNImagination Station must be placing their hopes on "Orphan Black" - running for about 10 shows. Clones and more clones are running amok from what I understand. This is a BBC co-production so it must be available starting around March 30th on BBC-America.

Primeval will be replaced by a 'female Werewolf show' called Bitten. SyFy please pay attention.

I'd heard about "Bitten" awhile ago. Not particularly interested. Even just thinking about it brings back memories of "She-Wolf of London".

Now that was a LAME looking wolfwoman.

If it's a humanoid shape with a wolf's head, it's a wolfman or a wolfwoman. NOT a werewolf!!

Not to be sexist but I simply don't think that having a woman turn into a hairy beast is generally appealing. They have a female werewolf on (that horrible) American version of Being Human, but those CGI werewolves are horrendously bad to begin with so it's sort of a moot point.

Okay wait, the new version of Primeval has already been cancelled? :confused0076:

Lost Girl uses the sex angle to bring in (slack-jawed) viewers. If you look at it with the jaundiced eye of a cynical marketing guru it's actually quite genius. The main character is a sexual creature so of course they are going to exploit that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a great show or anything. I'm just saying that I can understand the reason for its popularity, due in no small part to the copious amounts of lipstick lesbian sex every week. That's an easy angle to exploit these days.

Yup, Primeval, as of 8 days ago, "she truly is dead, Jim". From what I understand the Albertosaurus didn't take it to well, with the beast kicking over all the garbage cans in its way and threatening to rip-off certain people's head.

I would love to be at the dinner table belonging to certain SyFy higher ups. I suspect that SPACE: The Un-Imagination Station were not to pleased when they had Caprica cancelled out from under them. On the other hand the execs at SG-1 and Eureka might be "snortling away" at SyFy either having to cancel the show or to hand over big bucks trying to keep the show going.

No matter which way it looks - it is bad news for Sci-Fi TV being shot in far away Vancouver.

That's about the only angle it has. I tried watching it a bit and gave up. Plots made little sense (the whole mythology of the show is inconsistent and silly), characters likewise are nonsensical and the acting seems indifferent. It's whole appeal is that it's as close to porn as SyFy can get away with under FCC rules.

Yup, contrived "poor man's porn" basically. There's a cynicism about the overt sexuality in the show, starting with the premise of a succubus that needs to "feed" during sexual encounters in order to live. It seems a very juvenile premise to me. In fact, the whole show has a cartoon feel to it as opposed to a supernatural feel.
