Not SciFi, but since there's no equivalent here (as yet)...

Watching "How To Train Your Dragon" for the third time in as many days. I love that movie.

I was thinking that I'd love to see Dreamworks use the same idea to do The Dragonriders of Pern. I've been dragonstruck my entire life. I think they could certainly do better with Pern than the studio who did Eragon (in which Carlyle played "Durza")

Anyone else here a dragon nut? I kindasorta got my start with Godzilla...though he's technically not a dragon (but sure fucking looks like one, sans the wings).

They appear to have based the dragons' movements on cats.

Just a very sweet movie. And the only movie in which I actually like Gerard Butler. I'm probably the one woman in the world who doesn't drool over the man.

Yep, love dragons.
Back in 2007 they did a cartoon of Dragons of autumn twilight (Dragonlance novel) with Kiefer Sutherland, Lucy Lawless and Michael Rosenbaum. It wasn't "earthshaking awesome", but it was an "ok" adaption of the book.

He's one of those European actors (in this case, a Scot) who hasn't figured out that many women prefer a clean-shaven look.

He tends to look like Carlyle's "Rush" most of the time.

I really don't understand the slavish attention so many women pay to him. I find unshaven (not including a full beard and/or mustache) men to be unattractive. That whole five o'clock shadow times three look does nothing positive for me.

Ditto here...who can forget the "Don Johnson " look...didn't like it on him, don't like it on anyone really! :P you do realize that americans use more soap and deoderant per capita in a year than europeans do?? :P maybe that's why the unshaven unkempt look is so "in" over there. :P

Sadly, it's "in" over here, in that so many characters on TV are sporting it.

And it's sad to think that Johnson's shadow would be considered barely there today. It's gotten a lot worse since those days.

Ya...and as I understand it, most European women aren't much into shaving, either.

The fasination wears off quick with Gerard Butler. Once he is out of the character his natural self is goofy and not so masculine.

Nah, most of women and even men shave a lot here in czech republic for example. I am kind of weird to them that I don't like totally shaved people and some people are better unshaven actually imo. Also I am very hairy and often I am unshaven on face although I keep beard and moustache mostly and shave the rest. But as for rest of my body, I never shave there, never, I got my legs all covered in body hair, got really lots of hair on my back and butt of course and a bit on chest, but not too much, wish I was more hairy there instead lol, also I used to have unibrow as well on face. Yes I am unusualy hairy even as far as men go. But I am not getting rid of it, no matter what. But I am exception as I said and I regret getting rid of some hair in past.

Btw Gerald Butler is this guy, you must have seen this pic somewhere before:

I think some guys do it in the mistaken belief that we then won't notice the tide going out on the top of their head.

too true...then there is the dreaded "comb-over" a la Donald trump! :P:P:laughing:

Maybe. At 42 I still have a full head of hair as does my dad in his 70's. 2 lads I went to school with are both as bald as billiard balls though.

sweetie, I hate to pop your little balloon...but male-pattern baldness is carried by the mother's genes...so it's your mum's dad you need to be looking at. ;) i have two nephews in their 30's who are bald as can be...their dad has a full head of hair...but my dad (their mom's dad) was bald as a billiard ball too! ;)
