MGM greenlite Robocop remake —but NOT with Darren Aronofsky

It seems like everything's coming up Robo: First, Detroit's original cyborg policeman, Peter Weller, comes out in favor of a proposed statue in the Motor City, and now MGM has hired a director to take over their long-simmering remake, replacing the Black Swan Oscar nominee.
Before MGM recovered from the brink of financial collapse that saw the embattled studio stop the works on everything from James Bond to Joss Whedon's Cabin in the Woods, Darren Aronosfky sparked to the idea of revamping the story of a Detroit cop who, after getting gunned down, returns to the streets as a metal marshal. But presumably Aronosfky got tired of waiting and signed on to direct his Fountain leading man, Hugh Jackman, in The Wolverine.
In filling that void, MGM has turned to the Brazilian filmmaker Jose Padilha, who directed a couple of foreign-language crime dramas that impressed the studio brass. I guess, given the luck that Robocop has had with directors for whom English is a foreign language—the series' progenitor is the Dutch Paul Verhoeven—there was no problem casting a very wide net.
So it's safe to assume this is one of the 500 million dollar new project it has plans for?

To be fair, they did also create SG1/SGA as well. The problem is they tried to take on a project that they simply did not have the skill set to do and once they started to realise that and bring in some new blood, it was too late. If your PC chucked a wobbly, and you asked me for help, I wouldn't muddle through it and make a mess, I'd direct you to OM1 instead. I don't understand what some people's issue is with just saying "yeah, not my field, get in someone with eperience instead". I know it's ego driven, but when you screw up, you look like even more of a idiot.

Yeah, definitely an ego thing with them. The only point I'd make is that the project they took on wasn't just beyond their skill set but it was also hackneyed, cliche and horribly derivative if not outright stolen as concepts, characters and story lines go. I honestly don't know that if they had admitted they were in over their heads if anyone they brought in could have fixed SGU based on how flawed the project was to begin with.

It will be just a dream. Most of SGA actors would agree about play again their characters but the thing is TPTB don't just want it for the moment. I will not want it if it's the same former producers are in charge but I'd like to see again Sheppard and his team.BTW Momoa had already announced he wanted to leave the show after the season 5th.
