I heard it was Red Skull.
As for Thor, um, Natalie Portman? Meh, she's about as exciting as Kirsten "Mary Jane" Dunst and/or a wet paper bag. Take your pick.
She's just there as the Mary Jane factor. If there becomes romance between then at some point, I will become pissed 1) because it's nonsense and 2) Thor is mine forever and only I can wield his hammer.

It's Thanos at the end of Avengers, he was purplish, copy of DC's Darkseid. Red Skull was in the Captain America movie, hence the redness.
Is Thanos the equivalent of the "Apocalypse" character in X-Men animated series?
Apparently with the Justice League film, they might be introducing Darkseid right way which I think is a bad move.
I can't imagine a Justice League film not sucking Aqualung. Marvel did this the right way by introducing the characters in their own films before bringing them together. There has been no real DC Comic equivalent. We have seen no WW or Aqualung or Hawkman (yeah how is that going to convert to screen) and only various failed Superman franchises.
And I'm one of those people who - while appreciating Heath Ledger's performance - was watching the clock during the Dark Knight. And would you EVER have a Batman that strong (character-wise) inside a group of Justice Leaguers? And if Robin is introduced, you can forget about any credibility.
I personally never really enjoy ANY Batman film. Not a one. When X-Men was made, the first movie was so bad, I thought the future of superheroes on the big-screen was doomed. But ending with X3 was pretty damned good and the initial Nightcrawler scene in X2 is very impressive (even though the NC character himself was not up to my personal standards.
Like many, I struggled with loving and wanting to choke Tony Stark, but IM:I provided real substance. IM:II went off the rails when it abandoned Whiplash for an army of Iron Suits in attack mode. It's just too much. The IM:II feature I liked a lot was the father and son Stark connection through the Disney-esque model and creation of the Arc reactor. That was VERY cool. I love Black Widow, so any time she is present is a good thing.
Captain America grows on me every time I watch it. There's real substance going on there. It was initially my least favorite of these films.
Thor was always my favorite, because big beefy nordic ginger gods of yore are my speciality (and that's just how it is). But Hopkins provides weight and I love the very concept of Asgard even since SG-1. But everything made of gold is really hot and there is a standard of beauty to the film's core that appealed to me. The Jane Foster element aside, they did right by "leveling a small town" as opposed to having Thor and aliens running amuck in Los Angeles or even Miami. Introduction of Hawkeye.
I loved Hulk in the Avengers, I thought somehow Edward Norton could make that work in the re-boot but none of that worked for me.
OH.................. Thor:2 is supposed to feature DOCTOR STRANGE! Who, beside the Submariner, is possibly the character I would like to see the most.
Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme is a full-length feature film (animated to dvd) that is worth checking out for our resident torrentors.
There is also a couple of similar Green Lantern movies if you look around.
