You started the thead, what you want to talk about?

I want to know for sure who is the red-skinned smiling person at the end of Avengers. I've read it is Thanos (or "Apocalypse" from X-Men TAS) and someone else said it was Red Skull.

What does anyone think of Iron Man 3? Is "the suit" getting old?

The premise of Thor 2 sounds very cool.

Captain America 2 I know very little about.

I'm assuming there won't be future Hulk movies since they failed badly in the past.

I wouldn't mind a Black Widow original movie even if including Hawkeye.

I heard it was Red Skull.

As for Thor, um, Natalie Portman? Meh, she's about as exciting as Kirsten "Mary Jane" Dunst and/or a wet paper bag. Take your pick.

Black Widow would probably make a good movie, if they did it right that is. It's so easy to go wrong with these things. Not a fan of Scarlett Johansson (she gives off that crazy chick vibe which creeps me out) but she is suited to the part. I would actually watch that movie if they were to make it.

It's Thanos at the end of Avengers, he was purplish, copy of DC's Darkseid. Red Skull was in the Captain America movie, hence the redness.

Think his new suit is some physical bond thing he's gonna have going on with the suit in Iron Man. I don't really know. My buddy's the one that reads comics.

Apparently with the Justice League film, they might be introducing Darkseid right way which I think is a bad move.

She's just there as the Mary Jane factor. If there becomes romance between then at some point, I will become pissed 1) because it's nonsense and 2) Thor is mine forever and only I can wield his hammer.

Is Thanos the equivalent of the "Apocalypse" character in X-Men animated series?

I can't imagine a Justice League film not sucking Aqualung. Marvel did this the right way by introducing the characters in their own films before bringing them together. There has been no real DC Comic equivalent. We have seen no WW or Aqualung or Hawkman (yeah how is that going to convert to screen) and only various failed Superman franchises.

And I'm one of those people who - while appreciating Heath Ledger's performance - was watching the clock during the Dark Knight. And would you EVER have a Batman that strong (character-wise) inside a group of Justice Leaguers? And if Robin is introduced, you can forget about any credibility.

I personally never really enjoy ANY Batman film. Not a one. When X-Men was made, the first movie was so bad, I thought the future of superheroes on the big-screen was doomed. But ending with X3 was pretty damned good and the initial Nightcrawler scene in X2 is very impressive (even though the NC character himself was not up to my personal standards.

Like many, I struggled with loving and wanting to choke Tony Stark, but IM:I provided real substance. IM:II went off the rails when it abandoned Whiplash for an army of Iron Suits in attack mode. It's just too much. The IM:II feature I liked a lot was the father and son Stark connection through the Disney-esque model and creation of the Arc reactor. That was VERY cool. I love Black Widow, so any time she is present is a good thing.

Captain America grows on me every time I watch it. There's real substance going on there. It was initially my least favorite of these films.

Thor was always my favorite, because big beefy nordic ginger gods of yore are my speciality (and that's just how it is). But Hopkins provides weight and I love the very concept of Asgard even since SG-1. But everything made of gold is really hot and there is a standard of beauty to the film's core that appealed to me. The Jane Foster element aside, they did right by "leveling a small town" as opposed to having Thor and aliens running amuck in Los Angeles or even Miami. Introduction of Hawkeye.

I loved Hulk in the Avengers, I thought somehow Edward Norton could make that work in the re-boot but none of that worked for me.

OH.................. Thor:2 is supposed to feature DOCTOR STRANGE! Who, beside the Submariner, is possibly the character I would like to see the most. Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme is a full-length feature film (animated to dvd) that is worth checking out for our resident torrentors.

There is also a couple of similar Green Lantern movies if you look around.

There ARE comic book canon reasons for Jane Foster and Thor to be togeather, but as the movies seem to ignore some of that backstory, then I can take it or leave it.

No, they are different characters.

Smallville did some good stuff on the Justice league during its run, and Michael Shanks looked cool as Hawkman :)

Nope, not the only one.

You could have a batman that strong in JL, just not that dark.

Hulk, as a character is simply not interesting enough as a solo character to hold a movie.

Or you could pick it up for 7 bucks like I did...... :P

Daniel Jackson or not, are you saying this would work on the big screen? I hear chuckles. It looks like Flash ala con Queen soundtrack.

What, you didn't understand that Thor is MINE? Every last square inch of him? I am Jane Foster, except I have a penis.

No, I'm saying alot of groundwork was laid out in the smallville series, weather you liked the series or not. Would it work on the big screen, Dunno, but they wouldn't have a small screen budget now, would they?

Thor or Chris Hemsworth :P

No, not anti-pirating, I simply choose not to do it.
And I am no-ones sister.

Which is the big beefy ginger-locked blazed blonde god of Asgard with the enormous hammer wearing his mother's drapes?

No, not anti-pirating, I simply choose not to do it.

People who consciously choose to avoid pirating are known as the Sisters Of Golem or SOG. WILL you call the FBI now?

Watch the Justice League cartoons that came out few years ago, Batman and Superman were the primary characters on the show and the best (in my opinion maybe Supes not as much). Batman's really the brains of the operation and really kicked ass.

No, it's Thor. Hemsworth isn't even a real ginger and is certainly no god of golden Asgard.

I'M IN LOVE WITH THOR, OK? REMEMBER LYNDA CARTER AND WONDER WOMAN? OR CHRISTOPHER REEVES AND SUPERMAN? THERE'S A DIFFERENCE.

You can have "Thor", but you would be well served to remember that Chris Hemsworth is mine. So is Chris Pine.

You can have Chris Evans though, now that I'm done with him that is. ;)

(*Word to the wise, Chris E. likes to whine a lot and a ball gag does little to muffle the sound. Just FYI.)

I liked both Iron Man films. One reason is that unlike what you get in a lot of these comic book movies Tony Stark actually has a character arc - the character has developed over the films (even in Avengers). And by the way, Iron Man 3 is using the Extremis storyline:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremis_(comics)

As to Thor, I did a review of it on this forum here:

http://www.gatefans.net/gforums/thr...-the-marvel-movie-universe.24462/#post-777010

Short summary - overall it was good. Helmsworth did his job well and both Thor and Loki were well written. The Asgard scenes were better than the earth scenes. Natalie Portman was awful as Jane - I kept hoping she would get accidentally smashed by Mjolinir.

I liked Captain America a lot. Not only did it do a good job on the origin story but it had a sort of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" vibe to it that worked really well.

As to Avengers, overall it worked. And a lot of the credit has to go to Joss Whedon for writing both a script and dialogue that enabled a collection of alpha characters like the Avengers to be on screen together without it getting silly. Yes the battle at the end was overdone (although I still laugh every time I see Loki "battle" the Hulk) but all in all the movie actually had some heart.
