It isn't The Sequel Trilogy, it's The DISNEY Trilogy.

I was watching a video from Geeks and Gamers, and Jeremy talks about a new thing happening within the Fandom Menace: we are now calling the squel trilogy the Disney trilogy, because it has nothing to do with Star Wars, and it isn't the trilogy laid out by George Lucas.


Perhaps it's time to start referring to these Disney Star Wars movies as The Disney Trilogy, and Disney Star Wars, to distinguish it from the real thing.

The problem is that Lucasfilm is the gatekeeper of the canon - so if they call it sequels it is sequels until they (or whoever in the future has this power) decides not to.

Most successful franchises in the story world have someone or some group that keeps the canon.

they are the ones responsible for the great purge and schism between canon and star wars legends

pablo hidalgo is supposedly in charge

there are fan rumors that this group no longer exists and that it is now an entirely digital endeavor
