Is "Dr Who" steampunk?

Was having a conversation with a friend earlier and we got to talking about the steampunk genre. Eventually we got around to talking about "Dr. Who" and realized it had a certain steampunk style to it at times. In fact, the inside of the Tardis pretty much screams steampunk (the exterior of the Tardis being post Victorian obviously, but still retro).

So, is it proper to define "Dr Who" as being part of the steampunk genre or is that too narrow a definition or is that just simply blasphemy? What say you good folk of the GF forum?

Dr Who is very much steampunk. As far as it being part of the steampunk "genre", well it could be considered that but the stories put it clearly within science fiction IMO.

I think that steampunk is more a visual style rather than a genre. It makes use of pipes, copper and traditional shapes and mechanicals over sleek organic shapes and designs. But the functions of both can be the same. Here is a cool steampunk guitar :)

And here is a VERY cool steampunk PC

I'd definitely say steampunk is more a visual style than a genre, and in that case the inside of the Tardis is very steampunk.
