I heard it laid a turd at the box office.
A lot of movies fail at the box office; it does not mean that they are bad movies.

This is true. Regardless though, I'm going to wait until it hits cable to watch it. I get the impression that many people saw the promos for it and felt the same as I did. That's just a subjective guess though.
