John Cena is in talks to star in Paramount’s “Duke Nukem” movie, a big-screen version of the long-running video game franchise.

The project is set up at Paramount-based Platinum Dunes, which is operated by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. No director or writer is attached yet.

Duke Nukem first appeared in the 1991 eponymous video game, developed by Apogee Software, as a muscular cigar-chomping man who always wears Ray-Bans and sports a flat-top haircut as he fights aliens to save planet Earth by using enormous physical strength and his expertise in firearms. He’s appeared in 19 video games as the title character, most recently in “Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour.

Duke Nukem was the very first FPS I ever played on a PC! I still have the game on my newest computer. I could see a movie done on Duke easily. He is basically a super badass to the point of being comedic. And the game also had overt sexual undertones, complete with "hidden" porn background sounds. :)

Michael Bay is PERFECT for this film. He was made for it.

I'm not a fan of Michael Bay but I admit that he's perfect for this project.

Duke wasn't my first but I did play some of the games wayyyyyyy back in the 90's on PC. I actually kind of miss that experience of playing on a cheap, shitty desktop PC odd as that sounds. It was a fun time.

uh...what? You can still play cheap games on a shitty PC. Most 7 year old pcs can still run ancient games.

The problem is that Michael Bay will probably rate it PG13 and I hope he does not though. This needs to be cheesy, but also needs that humour in it from Duke Nukem which made it special. The guy who does the duke voice seems like such a cool guy.

Yeah I know I just mean I've long since graduated to playing on consoles. I'm sure I'll do a retro Tomb Raider or Duke Nukem play-thru at some point though. It would be interesting to see how much I remember for each challenge I encounter again.

You are exactly right, and I do it all the time! I still fire up my Duke occasionally. I even made custom maps with the Build engine that came with the game. :) Also I still sometimes play Doom, Quake (the original first one), and several others.

The game can be played on your new PC, and they have ported some of the ancient games to Android.

Add to that movies made in the 90's. They are remaking The Mighty Ducks. At this rate we are going to be seeing remakes and reboots every 4 years in the future lol.

this is worth seeing if you haven't seen it. It's old but made by ubisoft studios themselves.
