If I remember correctly the President was supposed to be Richard Nixon. Hmm... I'm not sure if the guy playing him in this sounded a lot like Nixon, but they probably based the casting on what he looked like.

nevermind found the answer.The guy who plays nixon well...lets just say, he doesn't suit his role. His voice doesn't go well.

The last one is not resolved. The identity of who was speaking and who caused the explosion is not yet known - the Doctor himself states this right at the end.

Oh that.

Yes it was resolved in that Amy alone had the capability because of spending most of her life right next to the time crack and thus having the vortex pouring through her. Her memory (greatly enhanced by who and where she was) was part of the backup for restoring stuff after Big Bang 2. Actually a decently clever resolution.

Now we get to discover who did this in the first place and why.

I don't know much about the Doctor Who-verse but I get the feeling it was maybe done by those squid faced aliens?

Whoever did it needs to possess power on an intergalactic scale - the Ood don't.
