Really? They actually went there? Linda is there for name recognition. She must be desperate. She is 58 years old but looks 65. My face is still wrinkle free and I am 55.

Could be cuz I have a very little bit of Aboriginal in my blood . My Dad's great grandmother was Ojibway . Hope I spelled that right ...probly not ...

That kind of aged look is usually the result of smoking and/or drinking for a long period of time. I have seen far worse. But having a wrinkled, but natural face is way better than having that face-in-the-wind-tunnel look they all seem to have after getting plastic surgery. Here is a good example in Bree Walker:

bree_walker-bad-face-lift.jpg

They always also go for those damned bee-sting lips too! WTF? At least the Michael Jackson nose has fallen out of style. I am stylin on Linda Hamilton, but I applaud her for not getting plastic surgery even if she is aging rapidly. Then there are people like Betty White who wear their age wonderfully. Even Letterman has become a gracefully aged older man.

Beyond this, I suggest you get as much as you can on Defiance this season...it may be the last if the numbers are any indication. :)

YES on the bolded. This show has the game going and also it is stimulating music sales. It has a revenue stream in the form of contributary fees from Sony (for the PS3), and from Microsoft for the Xbox. The game and the show are treated as a single property. Plus you have Trion to whine to for funding.

But the game has gone to seed. I paid for the game, but now it's free to play now. I give it this season before it bites the dust. :)

I paid for that dum ass game also . It filled up my hardrive with its stupid updates so I hade to remove it . I mentioned this before but the show was made to promote the game . game was dum anyway so I don't miss it ...

Well, I think the episode Friday was intended to be some sort of bad comedy...

Nolan and the mayor find a giant underground weapons cache, but she goes all psycho on her ex-boyfriend who they found there and ends up blowing it all up, thus removing all the weapons they need.

Meanwhile Irisa has a life threatening situation occur and the other deputy (who is mad at Irisa because she killed Tommy - never mind that Irisa was being controlled by the Ark Brain) just walks away and leaves her there dying.

And while this is all going on, Stahma (Jamie Murray) seduces and tries to murder the older Omec, only to discover they are immune to her poisons. So...she breaks down and tells the Omec how the Votanis collective is blackmailing her and her husband. His response? Let's have more sex! To which she happily agrees! To heck with her son being at risk of death because she failed to kill him, time for more sex (now where is the broom closet....)!

Oh, and Datak and Stahma blew up the arch. So no more music and they even changed the opening credits.

It will be interesting to see the numbers for this week as last week's were pretty bad.

I did not catch that part. As much damage as the arch received, the arch should have fallen by itself before the beginning of the series.

Leaving the world of unrealistic Syfy television science fiction for a moment...

It would not take much of a blast to one of the bases of the arch to cause the arch to fall. This spring, the police caught one person who was building a bomb with funds from an EBT card to do just that.

Looking at the numbers, I have an idea for an episode. Dr. Isles tricks Rizzoli into joining her as contestants on Naked and Afraid. The producers on Naked and Afraid forget to blur their naughty bits before airing.

Don't forget the part where they discover a cache of pillows just in time for the big pillow fight scene, on the beach no less. ;)

Lovely. The entire show used the Arch as an icon. It was as much associated with the show (and Defiance the town) as the Enterprise is to Star Trek. It was Datek and Stahma who turned me off this show to begin with, but Irisa pushed me over the edge with her whiney principles and dumb drama. And the alien DJ playing vinyl? VINYL? I would imagine that if radios and speakers survived, then MP3 would survive too. Why would the radio be used for music instead of security news and trying to reach survivors?

I stopped watching it so I have no idea what has happened after Season 1.

The arch is more stable than I thought. It was designed as a weighted catenary (y = A*(cosh(C*x/L) -1), A = 68.8 ft, C = 3.00, L = 299.2 ft), so all of the load is directed completely downwards at the bases. The easiest way to make it unstable would be to disturb the bedrock foundation or lower section on one of the bases with something like a ammonia nitrate bomb (like the Oklahoma City attack).

I suppose we should update this.

Datak Tarr is under arrest for espionage. His son actually escaped from the Votanis Collective and was able to warn Defiance. Stahma Tarr is hiding out with the Omec, where the male appears to be falling for her a little. War is imminent.

On the "yuck" side we were treated to Omec father/daughter sex This was even creepier than the Tarr nude family baths. It makes one wonder if one of the writers isn't into incest a bit.

Oh, and now Nolan and Irisa cannot be more than one mile apart lest they both die as they both have active chunks of Ark Brain in their heads.

Yaaawwwnnn.....

On the unfortunate front the ratings have ticked up some. They are back around 1.1 overall and up to .3 demo.

Well....that was a weird episode.

The pruning of characters continues as Berlin left with her boyfriend (who supplied Defiance with arms) and Datak Tarr ended the episode in the process of being executed by dismemberment. Meanwhile Irisa is trying to get herself to fight again but still is wracked with guilt over killing her boyfriend last season (what - ever...). And the male Omec seems slightly smitten with Stahma while his daughter/girlfriend tries to kill her and then seemingly teleports her up to the Omec ship.

What? you expected the episode to make even a faint amount of sense?

I doubt they will kill off Datak completely. If you notice they didn't show him dying completely. So, he will probably linger on for a bit while the VC invade the town and then there will be the mid-season break. When the second part of the season continues we'll see Datak still alive I suspect.

As for the rest of the characters, I don't care one wit. The only thing that catches my eye is Jaime Murray's acting ability. I don't care for Stahma but I can separate out the actor from the role and see that she's really good.

It is a pity Jamie Murray wastes her time on this show.

As to Datak, I expect he will live also. Berlin was the character they trimmed off this time.

I'm having a hard time really feeling the threat in this seasons plots. Obviously at some point the Omec have to be dealt with but the Votanis Collective is just boring. Last season with the Ark Brain was better.

I must really be overtired.....I actually enjoyed this episode of Defiance.

It was actually paced properly, and Datak's childhood scenes were well executed. Good acting as well, and the way Datak actually redeemed himself was a hoot. Maybe it was watching him do it but it bordered on the humorous. That said, it will create a need for an interesting prop in future episodes.

Also, just because the show has improved does not mean that the length of time it took to explain its backstory is forgiven and forgotten. And at least with the Omec they actually explained who they were straight out.

Just a green smock to cover his amputated arm, like they did with Daniel Jackson's amputated leg during the Stargate: Continuum DVD movie.

Nah, we need something more creative! For example he could have a post with a lighted disco ball on the end....

He'll probably perform some magic alien ritual that will give him a new arm. Either that or the doc will do some kind of transplant from someone else. What they won't do is kill him off completely, as they should. Instead he will continue to be an antagonist with the occasional protagonist trait. Shampoo, rinse, repeat ad nauseum. :rolleye0014:
